OVERVIEW

Redesign of Citibank India's Mobile Banking Application

BACKGROUND

During my tenure at Rage Communications, as the Information Architect I was tasked with redesigning Citibank India's Mobile Banking experience. The existing app was outdated and Citibank wanted do to a complete revamp.

  • Initiated kick-off meeting with stakeholders across different verticals of Citibank India and gathered business requirements.

  • Conducted usability testing on the existing mobile application and presented the usability testing report to the product owners and top management of Citibank India.

  • Worked with Citibank India’s marketing team to identify relevant customer segment and defined personas.

  • Conducted User Interviews and surveys.

  • Designed task flows, information architecture, concept sketches and wireframes using Omnigraffle

  • Designed and delivered style guides, users flows, redline documents and visual designs with annotations to Citibank India and led the hand off session with Kony India(Development Partner).

Usability Testing

After kickoff discussion with the stakeholders, I worked with Citibank India's marketing team to understand the current user personas they has and identify the personas which are suitable for usability testing. Once the personas were identified Citibank help us recruit users for the testing process and I was working on creating scenarios and tasks for the testing. The testing was conducted in person and I had an observer with me to help with the notes. 

Design Guidelines and User Flows

I started working on the design guidelines in parallel while the Usability Testing sessions were going on. After the usability testing we presented the test report to stakeholders and highlighted the pain points and how it could be addressed. The major issue users were facing was that they had to switch between Desktop and Mobile apps to complete a single task. Fixing this pain point required us to rethink existing userflows. 

UI Design

Once the user flows were approved by Citibank, my team and I started working on the visual designs, prototypes and document the flow along with the designs.

Delivery 

After the visual design process and user testing with the prototype, we handed off the designs to Kony India(development partner for Citibank) and continued working with them till deployment.
